Internet Policy Observatory Pakistan tactical operations team is closely monitoring the situation after today’s powerful earthquake in the country measuring 8.1 in the Richter scale. As part of our commitment to establish emergency networks for first responders and relief organizations we are in contact with disaster management authorities and humanitarian organizations for field operations.
iPOP tactical operations team (TOPS) is a highly trained team that responds to disasters in areas where normal telecommunications networks have been destroyed by natural calamities. The tactical operations team also called the A-Team is a group of volunteers that have quickly assemble to respond to disasters.
How we do Tactical Operations
- Tactical Operation team uses portable satellite communications equipment to provide voice and data communications for aid workers who rely on these tools to coordinate logistics and deliver lifesaving supplies.
- Providing vital ICT support (Internet, telephone, satphone, and email) to first responders and relief organizations.
- Establishing multiple communications centers equipped with internet, phone and radio capabilities. In addition, iPOP tactical operations team also provides free phone calls to people living in temporary camps and shelters.
- Establishing dedicated communication center for women enabling them to communication and reconnect them with displaced family members.
